The Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine (Bảo tàng Y học Cổ truyền Việt Nam) stands as the first private museum in Vietnam dedicated to the healing arts. Spanning 18 exhibition rooms across five floors, the space is a meticulously designed “living” environment that showcases over 3,000 artifacts dating from the Stone Age to the present.
The Philosophy of “Thanh Truoc Thao”
The museum highlights the fundamental principle of Vietnamese medicine: the harmony between humans and nature. This is reflected in the display of indigenous herbs and botanical illustrations, which serve as a bridge between scientific documentation and fine art.
The museum is situated in District 10, a neighborhood that retains a more traditional residential character compared to the city’s commercial center. This location is significant as it anchors the museum within an authentic urban fabric, away from the high-rise developments of District 1.
