Description
A Gashadokuro clay relief, handmade in dark copper, depicting the giant skeleton spirit standing full figure, ribs exposed, hollow eyes forward, energy lines and bone mass radiating outward to the slab’s edges.
The figure is densely worked into the compact surface, the dark copper finish deepening the shadows between the ribs and bone detail, giving the piece a brooding, almost ancient quality. Swirling forms press in around the figure, part flame, part spirit, filling every corner of the slab with restless movement. At 10x10cm it suits a desk, narrow shelf or window ledge without requiring fixings.
In Japanese folklore, the Gashadokuro is a giant skeleton formed from the accumulated bones and grudges of those who died in battle or famine without proper burial, said to roam the countryside after midnight driven by an eternal hunger against the living.
An original handmade clay sculpture, one of a kind, 10x10cm.
