Description
A Hibagon clay relief, handmade in dark copper, depicting the cryptid head-on in close portrait, broad flat face, bared fangs and deep-set eyes pressed wide to the edges of the slab.
The face dominates the entire surface, leaving no background, no context, just the creature staring forward with a directness that is genuinely unsettling at any scale. The dark copper finish deepens the shadows around the brow, cheeks and jaw, the raw clay texture adding a coarse, furred quality to the surface that suits the subject. At 10x10cm it suits a desk, narrow shelf or window ledge without requiring fixings.
The Hibagon is a Japanese cryptid reported in the forests of Hiroshima Prefecture, described as a powerfully built, ape-like creature with a broad face and piercing gaze. Less mythological than folkloric, it sits in the tradition of wilderness spirits that mark the boundary between the known world and the untamed one beyond it.
An original handmade clay sculpture, one of a kind, 10x10cm.
Material: Air-dry clay, sealed with Liquitex Matte Medium Dimensions: 10 x 10 x 1cm Care: Keep dry. Avoid direct sunlight and temperature extremes. Decorative only.
