Description
A Kami Gate Shrine clay relief, handmade in dark copper, depicting the frontal elevation of a tiered shrine gate, heavy timber doors set deep within layered architectural framing, stone steps descending to the left.
The composition is flat and direct, the gate filling the slab face-on, beam work, roof tiers and carved decorative detail pressed with precision into the compact surface. The dark copper finish settles into the recessed joints and shadows of the architecture, giving the piece the weight and patina of aged bronze. At 10x10cm it suits a desk, narrow shelf or window ledge without requiring fixings.
In Shinto tradition, the shrine gate marks the threshold between the ordinary world and sacred ground, its architecture designed as much to define that boundary as to permit entry. This piece captures the gate closed, the interior unreachable.
An original handmade clay sculpture, one of a kind, 10x10cm.
Material: Air-dry clay, sealed with Liquitex Matte Medium Dimensions: 10 x 10 x 1cm Care: Keep dry. Avoid direct sunlight and temperature extremes. Decorative only.
