Description
A Kata District clay relief, handmade with an iridescent finish, depicting a dense urban streetscape where oversized kanji signage looms above cramped storefronts and bare winter trees.
The composition is tightly packed, architectural detail pressed deep into the clay, stairs, shutters, wiring and script competing for space across the slab’s surface. The iridescent finish shifts across the relief’s raised edges, catching light differently across the mechanical and organic elements of the scene. At 20x20cm it displays well on a shelf or ledge without requiring fixings.
The Kata District sits at the friction point between heritage and sprawl, ancient characters rendered at the scale of corporate signage, small shops clinging to the shadow beneath. The piece reads as both cityscape and cultural commentary.
An original handmade clay sculpture, one of a kind, 20x20cm.
