Description
A Ryujin clay relief, handmade in grey, depicting the dragon deity in a dense coiling composition, scaled body and jagged features filling the slab from edge to edge.
The figure writhes through the compact surface, fins, claws and serpentine curves layered in deep relief, the cool grey finish giving the scales and cavities a cold, deep-water quality. The piece has real physicality for its size, the dragon’s open jaw and intensity of detail reading clearly even at 10x10cm. It suits a desk, narrow shelf or window ledge without requiring fixings.
In Japanese mythology, Ryujin is the tutelary deity of the sea, a dragon god said to control the tides through magical jewels and rule from a palace on the ocean floor. This piece captures the creature’s overwhelming, untameable force rather than its sovereignty.
An original handmade clay sculpture, one of a kind, 10x10cm.
Material: Air-dry clay, sealed with Liquitex Matte Medium Dimensions: 10 x 10 x 1cm Care: Keep dry. Avoid direct sunlight and temperature extremes. Decorative only.
