Description
A Shinigami clay relief, handmade in grey, depicting a towering death god in tattered robes surrounded by the faces of the fallen.
The central figure dominates the composition, ribs and skeletal frame rendered in dense, layered relief, skulls pressing in from every edge of the slab. The cool grey finish amplifies the starkness of the scene, the raw clay texture adding an aged, stone-carved weight to the piece. At 20x20cm it displays well on a shelf or ledge without requiring fixings.
In Japanese culture, the Shinigami are personifications of death, spirits that guide souls toward their inevitable end. This piece captures the grim authority of that role, the figure’s hollow grin and gathered dead suggesting not cruelty but the cold, indifferent order of the afterlife.
An original handmade clay sculpture, one of a kind, 20x20cm.
