Description
The COBALT SEAM handmade clay coin carries a Special Blue-Violet Iridescent finish across a dark charcoal clay base, the pigment shifting between deep blue and violet as the light angle changes.
The front presents the large geometric artist mark in full – a square frame with vertical bar elements and bold angular letterforms pressed deep into the clay, the raised forms catching the blue-violet iridescent at full intensity while the recessed channels drop to near-black, creating a stark tonal contrast that makes the mark read almost as inlaid enamel against a dark ground. The reverse is unstructured texture throughout – the dark clay base worked into an irregular surface of ridges, depressions and tool marks, with blue iridescent particles scattered unevenly across it like particulate in suspension, brighter at the surface peaks and absent in the deepest hollows.
