Description

The DORMANT SPORE handmade clay coin is a single limited edition piece in Terracotta, pressed from warm red-brown clay with no applied pigment – the finish is the clay itself, shadowed naturally by the depth of the relief cuts.

The front face is densely worked – three overlapping circular medallion forms fill the surface, each packed with leaf, petal, and organic cell reliefs that press against one another with no negative space to breathe. The recessed lines read dark against the warm terracotta ground, the raised surfaces holding the raw clay tone, giving the whole face the character of something grown rather than made. The reverse is comparatively open – the Japanese artist mark stamp sits centred on a rougher, more yielding clay surface with natural tool marks and edge variation visible across the ground.
