Description

This GILDED ARCHIVE handmade clay coin is finished in a high-contrast metallic gold and charcoal patina. The piece features a weathered, “burnt gold” aesthetic where the gold pigment is concentrated within the deep relief, while the surrounding surfaces are heavily carbonized with a dark, matte soot-like finish.

The obverse displays a central Japanese hanko stamp featuring sharp, geometric characters surrounded by a border of radiating segments. On the reverse, the surface remains raw and pitted, carrying the hand-engraved artist mark cut directly into the darkened material.
