Description
Five overlapping disc reliefs cover the face of the SHARD RECORD handmade clay coin, each one pressed with the same bold kanji-style seal mark and arranged in a radial cluster across the Terracotta surface.
Each disc reads as a self-contained stamp – angular characters with thick strokes and deep recessed channels that hold dark shadow against the warm red-brown clay. The discs overlap without order, their edges cutting into one another and generating a second layer of incidental relief where the forms collide. The reverse carries the Japanese artist mark centred on a more openly worked clay ground, the surface showing darker clay deposits and natural edge variation – raw material rather than finished surface, lending the back a quality closer to excavation than manufacture.
Supplied in Lighthouse coin capsules with acrylic display stands.
